Wednesday September 9 - FA Carling Premiership Attendance: 20,635

Leicester (0) 0 - Middlesbrough (1) 1

Paul Gascoigne scored his first goal for Middlesborough to give the Teesiders their first Premiership win of the season against Leicester at Filbert Street. The England midfielder, who was largely anonymous throughout a scrappy encounter, and who was substituted five minutes from the end, found his golden touch in the final minute of the first half. Leicester had much the better of the first half with Heskey going closest when he spun past Pallister and left two defenders in his wake before unleasing a 25-yard drive which Schwarzer did brilliantly to parry, and the Boro 'keeper continued his stunning form for the rest of the night, to frustrate The Foxes

GOALS
0-1 Middlesbrough 45 mins Gascoigne
Savage fouled Gordon 30 yards out and Mustoe stroked a free-kick to Gazza who feigned to shoot, dropping his shoulder, he jigged passed Sinclair and curled a low shot from 20 yards beyond Keller's left hand
