Southampton recorded their first Premiership win of the season but they were desperately hanging on at the end. Matt Le Tissier was in superb form in the first half, scoring one goal and making another. But Coventry took control as Le Tissier faded and there were some heart stopping moments for the home fans to endure after Dion Dublin had pulled a goal back. Saint's win ended a run of only two points from a possible 27

Stewart Ripley floated in a perfect centre, which sailed over the head of Coventry right-back Roland Nilsson on the edge of his own six-yard box, Matt Le Tissier was there to angle his header back across the face of goal from eight yards

Matth Le Tissier created the goal for Ostenstead, swinging in the perfect cross from the left which totally fooled the City defence, Ostenstad arrived to meet the centre with a right-footed shot from three yards out
