Southampton recorded only their third win of the season in some style after Ostenstad scored twice. Wimbledon were strangely off form so soon after their tremendous win over Liverpool and never recovered once Ostenstad had opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Kachloul and the Norwegian added further goals but The Saints were unlucky to find Dons' keeper Sullivan in such great form. Dave Jones' men also hit the woodwork three times before Marcus Gayle pulled a goal back for Wimbledon but it was only a consolation

Beattie flicked on a long clearance from 'keeper Jones and there was indecision in the Wimbledon defence as Ostenstad nipped between two defenders and 'keeper Sullivan to shoot into an empty net

Le Tissier swung in the centre with his right foot and the Moroccan international dived full length to head home his first goal for the club from 15 yards
3-0 Southampton 68 mins Ostenstad
Beattie hit the post and Kachloul cleverly back-heeled across the face of the goal for Ostenstad to smash home his fifth goal of the season
3-1 Wimbledon 76 mins Gayle
Michael Hughes got free on the left and fired the ball into the centre of the box which found Gayle unmarked, for once, to volley a simple goal from ten yards
