Tottenham (1) 3 - Leeds (2) 3
Spur's captain Sol Campbell salvaged a point with a last-minute header in what must be one of the games this season so far. With all the talk surrounding the imminent arrival of George Graham as the new Spurs boss, this was a game to ease the fears of fans who see Graham as little more than a boring manager.
From the first minute to the last the goals flowed, yet no-one would have believed that the game would be this open when Gunnar Halle rose unmarked in the box to open the scoring after just three minutes. Campbell and Chris Armstrong both went close for Spurs before they drew level as Ramon Vega headed home from close range in the 19th minute. Spurs' defensive nightmares allowed Hasselbaink to stab home a 24th-minute goal that gave Leeds a half-time advantage that they barely deserved, as Les Ferdinand could have had a hat-trick of his own in that opening period. Spurs put the Leeds defence under seige at the start of the second half, but their efforts to get forward meant they were always vulnerable to a breakaway goal and that came when Clyde Wijnhard out-fought Vega in the box and seemingly sealed the points for Leeds. The Spurs substitute Steffen Iversen gave the home side hope as he put his injury nightmare behind him and lashed home a 70th-minute volley. It could have been all over if Baardsen had not kept out Hasselbaink's deflected effort as the game drew to a close. Moments later Anderton launched a high ball into the box and as most players on the field scrambled for possession, Campbell popped up to head past Martyn to seal a point
