Who was Elvira?

Elvira was Ellinore Kullenberg's grandmother. She lived on one of the islands in the archipelago of Gothenburg. She was married to Alfred (you can see him on a picture at the reception), who was a successful sailor, but a careless fellow. Elvira and Alfred had seven children together.

Since it did not come home much money from Alfred's voyages Elvira was forced to find something to meet her own and the children's needs. She then decorated the house for overnight stay. There were all sorts of people, pedlars, sailors and the occasional tramp.

She eventually became well-known, since it was pleasant to get there, it was good food and comfortable beds. Ellinore was inspired by Elvira, so Hotel Elvira's guiding principles are: well-being, good food and comfortable beds.

That Elvira has impressed the hotel is seen in that in each room there is something from her house. Among other things, the old sewing machine and mangle together with some of Alfred's fishing gear can be found in the hotel.

This is part of the hotel's re-use characterized design.
