The Castle of Kastelholm
I live in Sund and get to see the castle almost every day. After having read ”In the shadow of Kastelholm” (1945) by Signelia Häggblom my interest in the castle grew even bigger. The book has been an important source of inspiration during my work with the paintings and much of the mood and atmosphere in the paintings come from this book.
Summertime in the 1990’s, art exhibitions with castle motives were held in the castle of Kastelholm. In 1997, I was “the castle artist” and had an exhibition here. During the years, I have also taken part with my illustrations in the castle’s permanent exhibition. /JP
