ABOUT ME Juha Pykäläinen feels that the most important purpose of his work is that it transmits a feeling of being there.In other words, he wants the beholder to share the same feelings and  experiences he had when he created his piece. The simplistic is what dominates his art, he tries to illustrate a wider context using simple means. Juha does not strive to depict complicated or unusual scenes, to him the situations of every day life is quite enough for inspiration. Neither does he strive to depict the exotic and distant scenes. The nature of the Åland islands with it’s many faces and expressions is a never ending source of inspiration. Depicting the Åland islands is a deliberate choice he made. His similar cultural background helps him to give a fair picture of the nature of the Åland islands in his art. Juha is a multifaceted artist, he is a painter, graphic artist and a  sculptor who is always ready for new challenges in the art world.
