( Tiberius Claudius Drusus ). The younger son of Nero Claudius Drusus and
Antonia. Claudius was born at Lugdunum in 10 B.C. A childhood attack of infantile paralysis had left him with grotesque appearance and was also generally assumed that he was weakminded. It soon become clear that he was by no means a weak-minded as people that thought, and in face he proved himself a very capable administrator. In A.D. 43 he personally took part in the invasion of Britain, thus beginning the Roman occupation to last until the fifth century. He married his nice, Agrippina Junior, in A.D. 49 and in the following year he adopted her son, Nero, who then become the heir to the throne. He died on October 13th, A.D. 54, possibly as the result of poison administrated on the orders of Agrippina. |
