Our Village Älmsta

Älmsta/Väddö is a small community about 1000 inhabitans. In your spare time you can go fishing, go to your youthclub "Draget" or go swimming (only in the summer of course). In the summer there are a lot of tourists who mostly arrive at the begnning of June and return home at beginning of August. I think that whitout the tourists our community would have been "dead". In Älmsta there are 12 shops, one post office, one bank, 3 petrol stations, 2 harirdressing saloons, one fire station.

Our sugeryn and our child welfare centre are quite modern whit capale doctors and nurses. There is also a museum in Älmsta, the "Maritime museum". On the mainland there is a school ( junior level and intermediate level ) called "Älstatsskola". The pupils are from 7 to 12 years old. Our school "Norrsundsskolan" is situated on the island and is a senior level school where the pupils are from 13 to 15 years old. In the autumn many people here go elk hunting in our very beautiful forests.
