Anna Sundblom

Earlier I have worked on the concept of time and the fragility of life.

Today I want to emphasise strength and power. The heavy cast iron sculptures look impenetrable from a distance, but as one draws near one sees three-dimensional bodies breaking loose. I wish to bring out the chaos that the Church sometimes finds itself in and the uprootedness that is also reflected in families and in the world.

The cast iron sculptures Man in box I and II weigh 170 kg a piece. The work Human Plates consists of burnt steel plates, engraved with Latin words and texts, devised by myself and by others. My performance, a woman locked up inside a box, is also a part of SAKRUM. Is she on her way somewhere?
