The present situation

The SAKRUM exhibition was opened in the Åland Art Museum on the 4 of March, 2006 and went on till the 2nd of April the same year. The inauguration speech of the opening night was held by Vicar Juanita Fagerholm-Urch and the event was visited by 244 people. The visitors also could see the performance by Anna Sundblom, one of the artists, as Ann-Christin Högnabba sang Pie Jesu from Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem.
SAKRUM consists of works by three young artists from the Åland Islands around a common theme. They explore sounds, images, history, art, power, and structures. The techniques employed are engravings on paper and textiles, cast metal sculptures, and purpose composed music. The work was initiated in 2003 and went on till the opening in March, 2006 in the Åland Art Museum exhibition hall of some 100 m2.
The artists also organised a panel discussion in the exhibition space with the participation of the author and poet Katarina Gäddnäs-Karlsson and Vicar Maria Sundblom, known from Finland’s Swedish TV network, apart from the artists themselves. The audience consisted of students and teachers from schools on the Åland Islands. Finally a divine service was held in the exhibition hall.

The SAKRUM exhibition goes on tour and will open at the Iron Inc Gallery in Copenhagen in the autumn of 2007 (September-November). This is a link to their homepage!
